You suspect FBI agents are going to raid your house at night? Get all your ev boys to pull up and blind them with their Tesla’s 🤴🤌🏼

abat6294

You can't see the flashing unless you have infrared vision.

eeckbabbadurkle

They have nods and ir lasers on their kits for night raids.

miragen125

I guess he meant that the FBI agents will be using night vision goggles

abat6294

Ohh, I see. In that case, that might just work lol.

Archiebaldus5

Are there any animals that can see infrared light? they will have lots of parties in the future

Admirable_Success732

Boots and cats and boot and cats and

Certainly the engineers thought about that. But is there a chance that one car's lights could interfere with another? How can they avoid this problem?

mosaic_hops

They’re modulated with some kind of PRN sequence so they can tell the signals apart easily, incidentally this is also how they perform ranging - they compare where in the sequence the reflected light is and this tells them how far apart the object is. This also allows for detection of multiple range returns from one beam, say a small object in front of a larger one. Not all self driving cars use LIDAR though - Teslas do not, for example.

ttioali

Thanks for the explanation. What amazes more is how much you have to "teach" the machine. Lots of different signals and it must learn what to filter and what is useful.

dampkringd

I thought it was police with all that flashing

AlphaGalaxy816

I'd hate to have that thing behind me, or around me at all.

abat6294

You can't see the flashing with the naked eye. It's infrared and this is an infrared camera.

AlphaGalaxy816

ooooh, makes sense.

bulanaboo

Now per are gonna use that when they come to break In I’d like to order the liDar suit please lol
