"Please tell me your security question". Erm, do you not ask the question and I give you the answer? "No, please tell me your security question". I'm doomed.

I failed to recall the correct memorable date for accessing a credit card account. Luckily I knew enough other answers that I got let in and the guy then told me the date, around 2 years earlier. Couldn't think for the life of me what might be memorable about that day. Guy looks at the transactions round then and says "Did you get married?" Oh, yeah.

This reminds me of how doomed I am when the fraud team ask ‘what was the name of the last cash machine you withdrew money from’ ‘Eh, the one on the corner?’ Idkn it’s name??

My banking app crashed the other week, managed to lock my card. I phoned the bank to sort it out. What's the 1st and 8th letter of your security question they ask....Me...ermmmm I just use my finger print mate.

Had my bank once call me a good few years back before scams were well known, they asked for my account password (hadn't given them my account number), I just said "surely you know that", the lady replied "I do" my response "well seeing as you called me, so you know I'm the real me because you've got my number, why do you need the password? " she said "to verify it's you" I replied "I can verify its me, you don't need my password". This back and forth went on until got bored and hung up

Virgin does this as a matter of course.... They don't seem to see the problem.

That part they have no control over because it's part of Data Protection. If they're discussing financial information (and they're a bank so of course they are) then they have to verify that they're speaking to the correct person before they can talk to you about anything. Because, you know, people do sell their phones or have them stolen and forget to tell their bank.

They could at least tell you the answer and turn it into Jeopardy
