Jimi Hendrix would like a word
By - Duck8Quack
“You’re welcome, you stupid moron.”
Exactly this. Chuck Berry and Little Richard are who invented rock and roll music. This imecile probably thinks Elvis Presley did. Also, clearly he's never listened to Prince.
Elvis would be the first one to correct these fools about "Colored folk" and the history of rock and roll music.
“A lot of people seem to think I started this business, but rock ‘n’ roll was here a long time before I came along,” Elvis told Jet‘s Louie Robinson. “Nobody can sing that kind of music like colored people. Let’s face it: I can’t sing it like Fats Domino can. I know that. But I always liked that kind of music. I used to go to the colored churches when I was a kid – like Rev. Brewster’s church (Rev. W. Herbert Brewster of East Trigg Ave. Baptist Church in Memphis).” -Elvis Presley
Why would he get credit for something Marty McFly did?!?
Excuse me. Did someone paint an egg to look like a fat guy? Cause they did a good job.
It has a literal neck beard. And his neck is wider than his cranium. The fuck did this man do to his body?
You've gotta assume he tried different angles and probably had other pics to choose from, but dude said " nah, imma go with the unshaven up angle in the passenger seat of this truck"
He regularly goes to potlucks and eats everything there.
I’m pretty sure they stopped letting him attend them after the first one
You think things like pesky little doors are going to stop Blobby Bobby?
Give me everything
That’s his order
looks like a water balloon with glasses...yeesh
I was thinking that was one hairy potato
Looks more like a thumb or big toe
Oh God my sides hurt. Lol!
Bad Brains anyone?
Chuck Berry, aka the father of rock n roll.
Exactly who was very influential on Jimi Hendrix
You meant to say he was influential to 90% of rock musicians that came after him, directly or indirectly.
Yeah, but especially Jimi Hendrix who set the bar even higher for guitar players, who he himself influenced such masters as Santana, David Gilmour, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Slash, just to name a few.
Did you say Stevie Ray Vaughan? Jimi and Vaughan are my two favorite guitarists….ever.
Have you seen SRV version of 3rd stone from the sun live at the El Mocambo?!?
Chuck Fucking Berry! Little Fucking Richard! Ike Fucking Turner! Louis Fucking Jordan! If you like guitar based popular music with a backbeat every band that you like is at most 3 degrees of separation from artists like this.
Jackie Wilson "The Black King of Rock n' Roll".
Fucking love the Jackie Wilson reference! Hell yeah! 🤘🏼
Came to add his name. And let’s not forget Little Richard either.
Chuck Berry was named by John Lennon as the inspiration behind The Beatles.
Years after the Beatles Split John got a chance to do a televised performance with Chuck. That moment is mostly remembered for Yoko Ono’s impression of a chimpanzee in heat!
You ever hear the Bill Burr rant about that? lol it's beautiful
I need to look that up. Chuck and John as a duet must have been awesome. Also curious about that Yoko description.
It was something else snd the video was pretty hilarious, just a little short!
Chuck’s face says it all.
Loving the “far sighted sound engineer” comment!
Watched a documentary about the Beatles and stones taking inspiration from him and others, then Richards was jamming with Berry, it was cool as f”@&$!!!
That sounds awesome. Didn’t know the stones took inspiration from him, but I’m not surprised.
Also Little Richard.
Fuck yes my my friend!
Living Colour also....
I saw body count and living color and FISHBONE at riotfest in Chicago this year!
I saw Fishbone probably a dozen times back in the day. This one time Angelo was standing on two people’s shoulders, and holding on to my hand to balance. His pants fell down, and apparently he was going commando that day. But he couldn’t let go to pull them up, he was in the middle of a song. Dude finished the whole song with his dick hanging in my face. That’s commitment.
I'm glad I know you all are talking about bands
Totally forgot about Body Count and I’ve seen them🤦
I saw Fishbone in 1989!
TV on the Radio?
Hey hey my playmate.
Easily in my top five songs about werewolves
Love the bass line
Rage Against the Fucking Machine
My immediate thought was Tom Morello.
We had to do a project in typing class in middle school and write a letter to a celebrity or politician. I was an overachiever so I think I chose my local state representative or something, and one of my friends chose Tom Morello. He asked some banal, vanilla questions about song writing and like one question about a comment he made about US involvement in Chile or something. Neither of us got a timely response, and we both forgot about it. Like 18 months later, he got a double sided, three page handwritten letter back from Tom explaining everything from a 10,000 ft view about the situation and his beliefs about it.
Like, holy shit, he took the time to *hand write* a 6 page response to a literal fucking child about a complex geopolitical issue while on tour. If that's not punk I don't know what is.
I know Bush is touchy subject, but I was a kid when this happened, so you'll have to give me a pass.
In 2nd grade, we read a book called 'Flat Stanley'. Our teacher had us make them and give them to someone, alongside a blank Stanley for the person to give back to us. Most of the kids just gave theirs to their parents, but one kid sent his to his aunt in Puerto Rico, which inspired me. I sent mine to the at-the-time president of the U.S, George Bush. Someone there actually took the time out to fucking color and send me one back, alongside pictures of Bush and his family, and a handwritten letter from Bush's perspective.
Doesn't the white house have actual people do this for a job tho? I heard if you send the WH a wedding invitation or birth announcement they will reply with a congratulatory card or letter with pictures etc. So almost like they will reply to everything, except threatening letters. They might send someone else for that.
Probably, but it was still pretty cool to my kid brain.
Oh don't get me wrong, overall it is still an awesome thing to do, especially making kids happy with the gesture. I was surprised not many know this in the past. Wonder if they still do it?
I believe he tweeted about this lol
This guy looks more like Rage against the fucking salad.
Rage against my A1C.
I'm upset with how far I had to scroll down for this comment
The fucking machine? Hmmm.
POCs have always been a part of the actual Punk scene. Bad Brains? Pat Shmear from The Germs? There’s so many examples…
Edit: so many good examples listed below. On top of this, he also says white males so let’s not leave out all the women and lgbtqia+ people that MADE punk. Poly Styrene, Kira from Black Flag, Exene, Alice Bag, Blondie, Bikini Kill, L7, The Pretenders, Jayne Fuckin Country, Against Me, The Germs and so many others contributed so much to the punk scene.
Poly Styrene, anyone?
Also Death, from the Detroit scene that predated the Ramones. And Chuck Berry liked the Ramones because he said it was similar to what they were trying to do back in the day,
Currently, Big Joanie. Hell, Lenny Kravitz won a Grammy every year for a while.
Death was amazing. Way ahead of their time. All black. All punk.
Tom Morello? Vernon Reid? Jimi Hendrix? Phil Lynott? Prince? Sly Stone? Doug Pinnick? Tosin Abasi? Larry Graham? Victor Wooten? Tony MacAlpine? Nile Rodgers? Pat Smear? Gary Fucking Clarke Jr? Slash?
I’d smack this cracker with some reality.
So much this.
Oh! DH Peligro, too
DK kicks so much ass
On the metal side we have Howard Jones and Alexis Brown, both phenomenal talents!
Not to mention all the basic building blocks of rock in any form was built by the black community at the turn of the century.
They didn’t just lay the foundation— they built the first floor. Chuck Berry, Little Richard, etc.
Rocky George of Suicidal Tendencies, Cro Mags, Infectious Grooves.
Vernon Reid started the black rock coalition to fight dumb shit like this — and that was in 1985.
I was waiting for someone to say Living Colour!
Living Colour.......so good.
Time has come today
I recently saw Radkey with The Foo Fighters. I loved their style of punk and can't wait to see where they go from here. Became an instant fan.
Radkey is pretty great, I dig them!
Death basically invented punk...
Living color! Fishbone!
He looks like a thumb
He looks like if an alien tried to 3D print an American.
To much Ivermectin. Hes retaining water.
He looks like only his face was shot with a fisheye lens.
Don’t insult the aliens dude they would make one much more attractive
He looks and sounds like COVID-19 next victim
That's been shoved up a million buttholes.
You mean Sore Thumb?
[Living Color would disagree](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xxgRUyzgs0)
Cult of personality. 👍
30+ years later, and I am still floored at how amazing this song is.
And how prescient the lyrics are. They basically nailed the Trump presidency 30 years early.
Open Letter to a Landlord is also amazing.
Saw them at Riot Fest last weekend - they still bring it!
My first thought was *laughs in Living Color* One of the most underrated guitarists in rock.
The opening to that song is the shit I mean the whole song is good but something about the intro gives me goosebumps
That gullet... I imagine him swallowing bags of Doritos whole like a pelican.
I was thinking something more like [this](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lvGCF-K8SiQ).
Lenny Kravitz, Chuck Berry, Prince. The genesis of rock is from African American blues.
The Genesis of rock is Phil Collins! But seriously you’re absolutely correct
Edit: Thanks for the assist on that one.
Meh. Better when it was Peter Gabriel.
No reply at all
Little Richard, etc. Elvis literally stole Hound Dog word for word from Big Mama Thornton with no credit. This tweet reeks of ignorance.
Sister Rosetta Tharpe. One of the best rock guitarists of all time.
Even the term "rock n roll" was first used in blues as a euphemism for sex.
If Robert Johnson hadn’t sold his soul at the crossroads…
Funkadelic, The Parliaments.
The Rolling Stones and AC/DC were disciples of Chuck Berry. Many rock bands aped the styles of Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Lead Belly etc...
Hell, even OG Hank Williams got influences from black musicians.
Hank Sr covered Leadbelly a lot in his live performances.
Too bad his son is talentless hack and his grandson is a fucking tweak weasel who lacks the creativity to write music that doesn’t pander to fucking racist losers.
And James Brown, and Little Richard, and Carlos Santana, and many more old & white brain can't think of right now!
Who is this inbred turnip looking mother fucker?
Please don't insult turnips like that
How the hell can this guy even listen to music? He doesn’t have ears.
What about Slash? And Lenny Kravitz?
We dont have to name specific examples, black people literally invented rock.
I love me some punk and metal. Black people please keep making awesome music no matter what the type of music it is.
Ok Roz from Monsters Inc.
Don’t insult Roz.
Roz would already be embarrassed of her and Jabba the Hutt’s bastard son. She’s been through enough.
Sevendust (lead singer Lajon Witherspoon)?!?
scrolled way too far for this. also fever 333, fire from the gods.
# THIN LIZZY
Wisdom from a top contender for the next r/hermancainaward
I’m over here polishing up his Hermie as we speak. The production line just can’t keep up with these clowns. We may need to steal some immigrant labor from the Republican owned lettuce farm down the street to keep up with demand. Keep em coming!
Elvis Presley was seen as controversial for making "black" music.
He did take everything he did from Miss Rosetta Tharpe after all. And his dances came from Cab Callaway.
For real, they just found out about Sister Rosetta Tharpe
no his dances came from Forest Gump
Don’t you mean appropriating black music
No, back then the focus was on white people being superior (not true, we are equal), and old people believed he was ruining music by bringing "black" music into white lives.
I personally don't believe in cultural appropriation. If a non-white person wants to do cross-country skiing while wearing a nice woolen sweater that's great, but they'll have to accept that I have a couple of rap songs in my playlist. Mixing cultures is one of the most beautiful things us humans can do.
Are we sure this isn't a troll?
I can see someone making this in response to the growing popularity and acceptance of white rappers.
I think this is the correct take. More on the "cultural appropriation" side of things tho. While misguided and incorrect i think thats the tone of the post.
We just going to ignore Sister Rosetta Tharpe (Not Elvis)? FISHBONE!?!?
Black people literally invented rock music. Racists are just the dumbest MFers.
Stupid is a prerequisite for racism.
It pretty much all originated from the blues. The lead singer from Pantera used to say"If we weren't a heavy metal band we would be playing the blues."
I'll be honest, I'm impressed he's not talking about country music. Worldview shattered
Edit: for clarity, this may be the dumbest opinion I've seen someone have
Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy would beg to differ…
Rasist people that forget that Rock is also originates from blues.. the disrespect is infuriating. Robert Johnson anyone?
That chin is mighty impressive.
Check out Radkey. Amazing band.
Lol the first official punk band, to many music historians, was a black band. And they rule.
I can't believe how far I had to scroll to see Death.
This guy be like “Black people do not make rock music!!”
And don’t say Sister Rosetta, or Chuck Berry, or Ike Turner, or Fats Domino, or Little Richard, or Jimi Hendrix, or Aretha Franklin, or Tina Turner, or Gary Clark jr, or Muddy Waters, or Prince, or Tom Morello, or Lenny Kravitz, or Andre 3000.
TV on the Radio would like a word, turnip boy
Give the man what he wants….because it’s obviously chunk rock
Triple Chunk Double Chocolate Rocky Road rock
TV on the Radio ❤️❤️❤️
I’m glad he has a goatee to show where his head should transition to neck.
Wait, what?! It’s punk you ignorant twat. Nobody cares about your opinion. That’s what makes it punk.
Now go home and keep pretending that you could have ever walked out of a Mojo Nixon show without someone stealing your Docs just for fun.
Jaba apparently isnt a fan of prince
Tell that to Sevendust and Killswitch Engage.
Human fucking potato head.
Says jabba the hutt
I'd delete my online presence if I was him.
I mean Muddy Waters and Chuck Berry essentially invented rock.
Black people in the US invented the roots of Rock'n'roll.
The 1st “rock and roll” record was Ike Turner’s “Rocket 88” in 1951. Yeah, THAT Ike Turner. It’s in YouTube.
If it wasn’t for Black rockers, White boys would be playing accordions today.
[Death](https://youtu.be/uAZ9R2t5Jd0) anyone? 🙋♀️
A lot more than just Hendrix would like a few words with this inverted cumsock.
Bo diddley , chuck berry , prince ,lil Richard , Bad brains , rage against the machine, seven dust I could go on .gotta love these people
What's the post say? I can't stop furiously masterbating to that profile picture long enough to read it.
Lenny Kravitz has entered the chat
I’m begging the lord to let this be a troll
Fat, stupid, and ugly is no way to through life son.
As would all the black blues musicians Rock evolved from. Fuck outta here with your many necks and dumbfuckery.
Black people invented rock and roll.
Someone doesn’t even know where rock came from.
Now that's a chin, a chin, a chin and a half.
Is this stuff going around b/c of that idiot Ben Shapiro video?
Are there really people who don't know Rock N Roll was invented by Black Americans?
[Where does he think rock music came from](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_and_roll)
Black folk literally created the blues and rock music. You like Led Zeppelin? Well, thank Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and a slew of others.
Elvis? Discovered in a recording studio while recording a Christmas song for his mom. The studio staff? Thought he was black, realized he was white, and then realized they were about to make a lot of money.
Rock history is filled with these stories.
Didn’t Rock derive from the Blues which is culturally African American.
Which as a metal head and punk rocker as well as ginormous Led Zeppelin fan my true thanks for all of that goes to artists like Robert Johnson.
For those who don’t know who that is please look him up and listen to his music.
Hendrix too but chuck berry was a pioneer of rock/guitar music. And then there are contemporaries like the guitarist from animals as leaders and oh ya Tom fucking morello. Even for racists this is fucking thumb I mean dumb I mean he looks like a thumb.
David Lee Roth said it best " we were all just trying to sound like black guys"
Bad Brains would like a word.
This over weight white guy, who has certainly achieved much in his llife has much knowledge to share. Before you tell us more, please tell us of your great accomplishments overweight white guy.
Led Zeppelin called themselves a heavy blues band. MANY of their songs were adaptations of old, original blues from the masters from the deep south. Robert Johnson, for example.
Rock music came from Blues and blues was created by Black people. White people get your facts right, you didn’t create everything ffs. So tired of this BS.
This is jacks fatty liver
Ever heard of Rosetta Tharpe?
His head really fits the circular profile image.
He looks like a create your own character where you set the face width to +100
The history of rock and roll would like to have a word with this chump.
Chuck Berry is gonna rise from his grave just to crack his guitar over the head of this walking thumb of a human
He has both the appearance and the attitude of two white guys from Florida morphed into one
Pretty sure that’s a parody type account, I could be wrong though he just could be real and just that stupid
