do we know how long the garo stuff stays? don't wanna be pressured by having to do pvp 24/7 to get everything
No, but they'll announce when it ends well in advance. The last time it was here, it was for a really long time.
I'm pushing my crafters to 60 and just found out that level 60 scrip gear is separated for each job. I don't want to clog up my armory chest so what should I do? I'm eyeing the Adept set (level 58) but I don't know it it will be sufficient in case I would like to craft the level 60+ crafter set? I can comfortably craft a level 52-54-ish collectables right now so I could saving up scrip in the meantime?
Edit: tl;dr - Level 60 gear progression for crafters make me confused. Crying and vomiting.
You can also craft your own crafting gear. When you make them quality they actually last a long while. However most of them are not for a level cap but some levels between them. If you gather all mats it's almost free, but taking some from marketboard is still affordable. I still remember my 330 crafting and gatherer sets, they cover all slots except that secondary fishing... But this is for later, perhaps level 71. You definitely don't need to have best of the best at all times when leveling.
I am usually anxious because I want to craft things for other crafters/gatherers class, but to make the process goes smoother/easier to hit HQ I would have to craft a better gear for myself, which would mean I would have to craft a better gear so that my stat would make it easier to hit HQ etc.
It's a terrible loop of thought to be in, I think I put too much thought into it.
If it's not too expensive just grab ironworks off the mb. Should be 50-60k a piece. You can use scrip accessories even
get to level 62? and buy npc gear
Are you able to take a break durinng a 1-200 necromancer run or do you have to do it in one sitting without leaving potd?
you can stop every 10 floors and exit, just be sure to not delete your safe file that you're doing the solo run on!
Sounds good to me, here I was getting ready to not sleep lol thank you.
Np! Good luck and remember to take breaks!
Oh yea definitely now that I know that, thank you.
If you complete the Makai event with clothing of one sex, will you buy clothes of both sexes from the Calamity Salvager? Or just the sex you completed the prerequisites with?
asking for pvp, is there a macro that targets a specific person on the enemy team based on the list order? i play on controller where tabbing through people while moving isnt the most comfortable
Use the [/target](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/text_command/9bbc3401eb7/) command along with an [ placeholder](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/text_command/placeholder/).
awesome, thank you!
Can anyone tell me why battle effects keep disappearing for me?
In almost every dungeon, I eventually lose vfx from everything, and that includes hit markers and AOEs from bosses, so I have to rely on the other party members telling me where to ago. Turning Battle Effects on and off doesn't work :(
try a restart or even a reinstall. i've very rarely had certain telegraphs disappear, unsure whether it's the same cause but a restart of the game fixed it.
Oh yeah the weirdest thing is, just logging out of the game and logging back in fixes it before it happens again when I get into a dungeon
Does anyone have the current 6.1 APM numbers of all jobs ?
what's the quickest way to make like 4 million XP if you've used up all your daily roulettes?
Wonderous Tales gives half a level no matter what. Do the quickest ones unsynced, then just reset the fastest trial 3-5 times until completion. That is usually what I do at 89 since I get sick of dungeons by that point.
What level range?
level 89, just want to finish the push to 90 tonight if possible so i can finish up the role quest chain i'm working on haha
oh wow it didn't even occur to me that CC would give XP! can work on the Garo mount while i'm doing it, thanks!
Most likely FATEs in EW zones. At around 250k exp per fate (I think), that's 16 FATEs. A more conservative estimate is 200k per FATE, so that's 20 FATEs.
You can also get like 2.5-3 mil exp from doing the bill hunts. Get the bills from the hunt board in Scholar's Harbor in Old Sharlayan then find and hunt all the mobs.
good tip can farm up some gemstones too.
So I just realized that each coil of Bahamut has a different set of gear for each job, and I was looking at an older post to see which ones I like the look of from each coil when I saw a comment saying you could get replicas of each item at level 60? I can't reply to the comment anymore, so I thought I'd ask here of anyone can tell me how replicas work.
Are replicas an alternative way to get the Bahamut gear if you just want them for glamour? How are they acquired if not from the raid? Do I need to have acquired the piece of the gear I want before I can get the replica?
The Replicas of the Coils gear are level 60 Crafts. You can buy them from other players directly or via the Marketboard or craft them yourself if you have the materials and necessary crafter levels. The recipes are acquired from the Master [Crafter] IV books.
Edit: The [Garland Tools Database](https://garlandtools.org/db/) is a great resource for these kinds of thing.
Oh cool, you can make them yourself. Sadly I'm nowhere near 60 in any of the crafter's yet and I'm still on the free trial, so I won't be able to get them yet, but it's good to know. Thanks for the info 😊
So if you get the recipes from books, does that mean I don't need the original piece of gear? Say I have the tank gear but I want to make the replica of the white mage set.
The original gear isn't necessary at all for crafting them. You will need drops from the Coils bosses and from the Crystal Tower Raids, though.
Edit: Desynthesizing the gear drops from the Coils can also get you some ingredients for the Replica gear.
Like the aetherstones? I figured I'd need to redo the Coils at some point for extra gear, bit I'm glad I can get materials to craft what I want if I don't get the piece itself.
Also thanks for informing me that desynthesizing is a thing, I had no idea that was possible. Glad to know I can just recycle the pieces I don't like instead of selling them.
> Like the aetherstones?
Anyone else getting a weird bug with ACT that causes it to constantly refresh to the most recent encounter pretty much preventing you from using the history function? End encounter button does nothing.
My retainers have been bringing me il570 moonward weapons for classes I don't use. Can I do anything with them? Cause I can't turn them in for seals or desynth them
you're kinda stuck with them for another 4 months
wait the 580 EX weapons are, but you can't desynth the 570 tome.... what's up with which gear they unlock for that?
when the next thing releases. the i580 EX weapons are no longer current because the i595 EX weapons were released. The first tier is weird because both the capped and uncapped tomes are locked. When the next tier releases, both the i570 and i590 tome stuff will be unlocked, and only the i620 tome stuff locked.
ohhhh, that makes sense thank you
Ah gotcha. Time to throw em in a retainer and forget about em lol
Next patch you should be able to, but for now there’s nothing to do with them.
can you queue for zadnor with a cross server party?
I am on the free trial and just tested receiving mail from someone with the paid version. The first letter (containing a few bronze pieces) went through fine, but they were unable to send another letter to me afterwards. When I look into this, it seems like I shouldn't have been able to receive mail at all, so I'm surprised that it only worked once. I know I can't send anything, but how does receiving letters work for the free trial? Is it limited to one letter per day/week/etc.? Thanks!!
You shouldn't be able to receive mails from players at all, even from a paid one. Not sure how the first one you stated got through.
I tried sending a mail, both with and without items, to a free trial account from my paid one and neither worked, saying the function doesn't work with players on the free trial.
Only mail that you should be able to get on free trial is from FFXIV Online Store purchases, since you can do those on free trial (with a few exceptions).
You actually can't get stuff from the online store on the free trial, at least cosmetics items, because of mail restrictions. I made the mistake once of buying a swimsuit glamour while on the free trial but I couldn't claim it from the moogle postman until I actually bought the full game.
> Free Trial Players **can purchase select in-game items** from the FINAL FANTASY® XIV Online Store during the Free Trial. Not all in-game items are available for purchase by Free Trial Players (e.g., in-game item gift codes).
They used to not be able to buy items off the Store. That was changed some time ago.
Sure, you can purchase them, but you won't be able to actually *get* them, which was my point, due to the store sending them to you by mail, and free trial players can't access mail.
Hence my story of buying a swimsuit from the store but not actually being able to receive it until I bought the full game. And this was like only a few months ago.
Except they can receive mail. They can't **send** mail while on the trial, but receiving it isn't blocked, especially not directly from SE.
If you bought an item and didn't receive it, then you should've contacted support. Buying something and them withholding it would get them in a lot of trouble in any country they operate.
[Here's the page](https://support.na.square-enix.com/rule.php?id=5382&la=1&tag=freetrial) for free trial restrictions.
> Free Trial Players **cannot send** in-game letters using the moogle delivery service during the Free Trial.
Edit: I should add that if you were buying items around the release of Endwalker, there were fairly lengthy waits for all purchases from the store.
That's strange, the item was definitely in my mail (I got the notification every time I logged in) but as soon as I checked the moogle deliveryman, it told me I couldn't access it as a free trial player. When I bought the game, I could access the deliveryman just fine.
Also the conversations above has OP literally saying that they can't receive items by mail sent by another player, and that's not something I see in the restrictions you linked either, unless that's actually trade (I haven't traded with anyone yet).
If this was actually a bug and I could have got my glamour much earlier I'm gonna be pissed.
For the sake of thoroughness and my own curiosity, I decided to test it.
I fired up a Free Trial account and was able to interact with the Deliery Moogle without issue.
Then I bought the Rabbit Head from the Online Store for €1.47. Took about 5 minutes for the letter to show up, but I was able to open the letter and claim the Rabbit Head.
Well damn, now I'm mad.
Anyone know what is the generally accepted way to farm poetics tombstones outside of duty roulettes?
I'm trying to get the NIN Anima weapon and while I'm no stranger to the grind (got the WHM and SMN Anima weapons before this a while ago) I wonder if there's a better way than just spamming Aetherochemical Research Facility.
If you still need aether oil, do the repeatable Crystal Tower quest in Mor Dohna. A full run of LotA+ST+WotD nets you 1 aether oil and 300~450 poetics. 1750 poetics saved, max.
If you still need singing clusters or alexandrite, do your 50/60/70/80 with the weekly (25 singing clusters) and daily quests (1 singing cluster / 5 alexandrite). That's 2 weeks of light farming to save 2000+1125=3125 poetics, and a roughly 1500~2000 poetics gain from the roulette.
Need/greed everything while you're at it, and burn GC seals on pneumite. That's another saved 1500 poetics.
So, you now have 1750+3125+1500=6375 less poetics to grind, and roughly 4000+ poetics to use elsewhere!
Yeah, I've already done Aether oil and almost done singing clusters with one more weekly, I'm pretty much stuck on the umbrite/crystal sand part lol. But yeah, making sure to get GC seals is a good reminder for the pneumite step, thanks.
Do you have DoH/DoL leveled? Use white scrips for crystal sand. Umbrite you can't cheat, sadly, but they lowered the amount needed in 6.0 so there's that.
try spamming casual crystalline conflict, those games go fast and I think its 20 poetics a game. probably can average 8 games an hour for 160 poetics an hour + scaling xp, could honestly be more, i tend to stretch mt games out lmao
You can join a hunt train if there's one up. Each EW A rank gives 30 Poetics, usually each train have 16 mobs, therefore each train gives maximum 480 poetics.
Yeah, I forgot to mention I'm not even into ShB yet orz...
Yes, there's hunt trains in ShB and EW zones that give 30 poetics per hunt mark killed. And people say Eureka and Bozja/Zadnor gives a lot too.
Ah, well I'm not even in ShB yet lmao.
I could do Eureka but those are usually from killing NMs right? I've grinded Eureka for a while but I hardly see anyone doing NM trains, I'm on a JP data center and I've only seen a NM trains like once so far.
This may be different on JP, but here on EU I'd say the last zone (Hydatos) is usually most active for NM trains.
Sadly I only just started Eureka and I'm still in Anemos lmao. It's been a real struggle to level...
Yes it is from killing NMs. It's still kinda soon since the patch 6.1 release so people are right now resting up before the new Ultimate releases or doing other things like making their new crafter/gatherer gear, so fewer people are doing older content like Eureka.
If you have a BLU you can try the Masked Carnivale for Poetics but that's a weekly thing.
Hmm, so I guess for now, ARF spam it is lol. Thanks for trying to help.
Does anyone know if there's a fending-compatible boot similar to the Deepshadow healer boots? I.e. an over-the-knee armor with heels? Preferably not thigh-high length but I'll take any.
Either [these](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/476269c7507/) or [these](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/358529f4f67) might be what you're after.
Bonewicca Protector's Sabatons/Manusya Sabatons of Fending?
Two colours of the same boot, but they're armored with a heel. Both dyeable IIRC. Closer to thigh length however.
Ishgardian Thigh Boots maybe? Not quite armor-y but maybe it'd work? Depends on what pants of course. There are lots of tank boots but most don't have high heels.
Okay so I'm kinda weird I never do group content in games and only ever solo, grouping just gives me so much anxiety that I'll mess up and cause people to wipe, but I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan and keep hearing how amazing this game's story is so I'm giving it a go. I honestly dislike this battle system of having to keep track of 30+ abilities and their cool downs especially on controller, but I was otherwise enjoying the story so far and the fact that I can group with NPCs in dungeons now. That is... Until I beat Ultima and now the game is forcing me to join raiding parties to progress. So I guess my question is, if I can somehow make it through these three raids, is this forced grouping with other players something the game will continue to do to progress the main story, or will I be able to solo most of the story like I originally was in a realm reborn? If grouping is required a lot I'd rather just unsub now tbh. Thanks in advance.

They are going to make everything solo friendly sometime down the line, including every expansion and patch MSQ content for 2.0\~4.5. Anything after Shadowbringers is again mostly solo friendly, with no group raids except the very very occasional Primal fights.
But yeah, not now.
>I honestly dislike this battle system of having to keep track of 30+ abilities and their cool downs especially on controller, but I was otherwise enjoying the story so far and the fact that I can group with NPCs in dungeons now.
You certainly don't need to keep track the cooldown of 30+ abilities on any starting class, especially before level 50, since they have a lot less actions. You don't even need to do this on a lot of the jobs that are 90, since not everything needs to be used on cooldown and there's no reason to track them.
Mind if you share what jobs you play?
Awesome! I may just wait and maybe come back then, thanks. And I started as Arcanist but it was way too many things to keep track of so I switched to rogue and eventually ninja but wasn't crazy about it either honestly. I can't reach dark knight yet which is what I think I might actually enjoy but I picked up samurai yesterday. I like how pretty the abilities look especially the aoe that spins cherry blossoms around my character lol so pretty but there are so many combos to keep track of it's like wayyy too much eeep
If you want something that's easy to play and don't have anything to track down, WHM is a very comfortable choice.
There's no cooldown you need to track after lv50, since almost everything is on your MP and you just need to cast it. It's very braindead (even on higher levels - I use this job to do high end raid!) and there's really no combo. And rather then 'tracking' cooldowns, there's no repercussions if you didn't use benediction or didn't recast asylum on cooldown, since you were not meant to do that in the first place.
I heard WAR is pretty braindead as well, but if you aren't settle yet might as well just try them all. Doesn't hurt!
Arcanist is likely the hardest class starting out however its complexity doesn't get much higher, a lot of levels are just upgrades to your existing tool kits.
14 is designed around you multi-classing so just go through and try stuff out until you find a playstyle or two you enjoy.
Yeah that makes sense I think maybe now having played ninja the arcanist rotation might make more sense now, but I kinda dread having to go back and level from the beginning of the game again heh
Scholar is not the way to go if you want to reduce the number of abilities you have, but Summoner is now (since Endwalker) one of the jobs with the fewest buttons and things to keep track of. They both branch off of Arcanist and share a level.
Oh okay awesome thanks that does sound like it would be fun the cute summons is originally what drew me to arcanist
Grouping is going to be mandatory for at least the 8-man trials (and 3 24-man raids) until the next expansion at the earliest. They're planning on adding the rest of the 4-man dungeon content over the course of the next major patches, but that won't be for a while. 6.2 won't be until like August and 6.3 and beyond is getting into next year.
Yikes okay thanks
NPC parties in dungeons currently only applies to the base game A Realm Reborn. The option for post-ARR dungeons, Heavensward, and Stormblood are going to come in later patches releasing every 4 months (Shadowbringers and Endwalker already have this option).
Trials (boss fights) and the story-mandatory Crystal Tower alliance raids are still going to multiplayer only, atleast until some later date after the 7.0 expansion. These have 8 or 24 players each, and with the general low difficulty of story content in this game, its unlikely you as an individual player would cause a wipe, especially if you're playing DPS rather than Tank or Healer.
Awesome okay so maybe if I can make it to shadowbringers then, hm might stick with it thanks!
>!In the quest "Void Theory" right at the end I was seeing a streamer and they got a scene where Y'shtola brings Unukalhai to the conversation after the Nixys come out of the void gate. I do not remember this scene, I haven't finished the Warring Triads questline so I'm thinking that's why I didn't get it? Or am I going crazy and my memory is becoming obsolete and I forgot?!<
>!I believe you only get this scene if you did Warring Triad, there's also additional dialogue if you did the Shadowbringers role quest capstone which also requires Warring Triad.!<
>!Then I think this is it, I haven't completed it the Warring Triad and I'm missing one ShB role quest. I'm not going crazy then phew... I was starting to get worried about my memory.!<
>!She mentioned him and also mentioned another person involved with the 13th, who you'd know if you finished all of the ShB role quests, including the joint one. I'm not sure the trigger, if any, for that scene, but she definitely mentioned him.!<
>!I did not finish all of the role quests, missing the magical ranged so I guess you mean Elidibus as the other person? I'm freaking out because I did not get the cutscene but maybe my memory is starting to.... not work anymore.!<
>!Nope, not him. If you finish your ShB role quests they're VERY explicit who's also from the 13th.!<
who is it?
>!Cylva/Cyella, the barmaid at the Wandering Stairs and Ardbert’s 5th companion. She’s also the basis of the Shadowkeeper boss in Eden!<
>!Cylva, the barmaid in on the first at the Crystarium.!<
Hello, I'm a new player. My character is a Hyur with the conjurer class (White mage) and he's around level 5. Any tips/strategies for new players? (I'm using a free trial account btw)
Do the MSQ. If you don't know what MSQ you need to do, click the thingy (the main scenario guide) on the lefthand side corner of your screen. If you don't know which quest you are at, click on it.
Also do your job quest, should be below the lefthand corner thingy. If you don't know which quest you are at, click on it.
White mage (the class conjurer becomes) while being a great healer at end game, has some growing pain early on. So if you feel like you're not doing too well sub 60 don't worry too much about it.
Do your Main Scenario Quests (MSQ) and job quests (every 5 levels).
At lv 30, upgrade your Conjurer to White Mage by doing your lv30 job quest. Be sure to equip the job stone afterwards to actually be a White Mage.
At lv20, you'll unlock mounts which will make traveling faster.
At lv50 (MSQ), you'll unlock flying mounts which makes traveling even more faster.
So if you're going to do something that has a lot of traveling... (gathering materials, hunting monsters) save most of it for after you unlock flying.
As a healer,
* Heal the tank if their hp goes under 50%. Otherwise, attack the mobs.
* Never be in front of the tank or you'll aggro the monsters.
* As the tank is pulling mobs, use your Damage Over Time (DOT) skills on the monsters. DOT skills are usually cast instantly rather than waiting 1.5 seconds.
* Use regen skills after the tank finishes pulling mobs, not before. Otherwise any non-aggroed mob will make a beeline to you.
* If a party member has a debuff, it'll be the first icon on the party list. If the icon has a white line over it, you can dispel it with Esuna.
Do your main story quests, its good exp and you need it to unlock most content. Job quests appear under the story guide in the top left and you want to do those as well for ability unlocks and your job stone.
As far battle goes, heal when you need to and dps when you don't.
Don't be afraid of failure, it happens and people will almost never rage if you make mistakes, especially while you have the sprout on.
Beyond that, Jocat's 'A Crap Guide to Final Fantasy' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8oVV_I-tIA) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osvUOqeDwD0) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olxZUfxk4bo) is unironically a great primer series for the gameplay itself.
The story is a slow burn, and ARR (the base game, also known as 2.0) is a lot of world building and lore dumps. This is stuff that *does* eventually pay off, but in many cases in one of the later expansions rather than right away. That's why the 1st expansion Heavensward (which is on the trial) is where everything clicks together for most people. Read the dialogue, try to pay attention and understand the world, and it will reward you for it.
Beyond that. Just enjoy the ride. It's an experience you won't forget (as long as you can force your way through some circa 2011 fetch quests lmao).
After the newest release of Guild Wars 2's Challenge Mode, Strike Mission, people were making comments about how every mechanic was from FFVIX. I fell in love with the Strike Mission instantly and if it's true that FFXIV's has content on this level or higher i want in.
I will begin with the free trial, of course, and join the discords and everything. However i need your help showing me some raid and dungeon videos, just to get an idea if this is something that i'll like.
Roles in GW2 are weirdly fun, but i like them all, be it dps or healer or tank. I'd like to start with something that won't wait in a queue forever though, so probably healer. I imagine every healer is viable, so i'll go with something cool, probably.
Currently watching this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpCHUAixES4&t=1185s&ab_channel=LuckyGhost), but if you have any tips, i'll welcome them. Also if you play GW2 as well in the NA region, let me know if you need help in game.
What to expect from FFXIV:
* It's a Final Fantasy game first, an MMO second. That means it's very story centric. Lots of cutscenes, lots of reading dialogue.
The base game (A Realm Reborn) is known to be rather poorly paced, but the lore is decent. It picks up in the expansions and becomes a fantastic story in the long run.
If you're not interested in story at all, you're either going to have to click your way through a lot of text or buy a story skip.
* Combat is definitely fun, but it's a bit different from GW2. A little less action oriented (no dodge rolls). More rigid role trinity. Complex skill kits, think 20-30 buttons and you're expected to use almost all of them. No custom skill trees.
* *Most* of the game is very easy — because, again, it's story focused and they want to make sure that story is accessible to people. Challenging content absolutely exists! But it's tucked away in endgame sidequests. So don't take the main story fights as representative.
* In those challenging fights, a significant part of beating them is *learning the dance.* Each fight has complex — but scripted — attack patterns, so we learn how to deal with different combos and anticipate what's coming next.
It can be a little hard to convey the fun and challenge of this learning process in video form. Perhaps try a wipe compilation [like this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7pH1JH59gw) or [like this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfLem-LilAM).
* You're right, tanks or healers are the way to go if you want fast queues. And you're right, they're all viable; FFXIV is a fairly well balanced game. [Here's](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Job) a quick summary of unlock requirements.
If you go ahead with the healer plan...
* White Mage is your classic nature/holy mage. It's generally considered the most straightforward to play. Compared to the other healers, it's (slightly) more dependant on standing still and casting spells.
* Scholar is, well, scholarly. And tactician-y. It has a fairy summon who can help with passive healing. Scholar relies more on insta-heals and resource management.
* Astrologian is the fortune teller themed one, with ultra pretty star magic. Several of its abilities involve placing something to trigger later, so you need to anticipate the future. It also has a simple card minigame to dish out buffs, which makes it a bit more busy than the other healers.
* Sage is magitech-themed. In this class, the damage you're dishing out causes passive healing. With its ability to zoom to a party member, it's the most mobile healer.
Continuing the trend of linking comedy videos rather than anything that tries to make the game look cool or good, [here's a surprisingly good guide to what it means to play healer.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osvUOqeDwD0)
Hahaha. Those raid videos were fun to watch. Thanks.
Astrologian and Sage sound like something i'll enjoy. I'm sure i'll try them all eventually.
I heard that bit about FFXIV being an RPG first and an MMO second, and i am ok with that. I'm actually looking forward to getting lost in the story. I hear it is excellent. The word 'Big Payoff' was thrown around a lot.
Thank you for the info.
Edit: Just watched the healing guide. It's hilarious.
Enjoy the free trial but don't feel you have to milk it all the way to the end. If you know you'll like it, and are frustrated with free trial restrictions, just go ahead and buy it.
The game is designed around you switching classes and trying out all sorts of stuff, play around and find a playstyle you enjoy, there's lots of exp to go around.
I personally find tanks to have the lowest queues (excluding particular high end content) but healers aren't too far behind. They also recently introduced a way to go through early story dungeons with NPCs which will be expanded to more with time, so even as a DPS queue times don't super matter.
And yes every class is viae, early on conjurer is your only healer although if you unlock arcanist and get it to level 30 you can unlock another one. The other two healers are a bit away though.
If you see a quest with a blue icon (which fans very intuitively call "blue quests") try to make it a high priority. They unlock new features, game modes, and more. The regular side quests can be fun but you might want to save them and the EXP as an alternate class.
Spend time going over the options to make the hotbars and UIs how you want them to be.
Thanks for the response.
In the ffxivclock site that shows the time for all node items, in the alert view, why are some items green and others brown?
Miner versus Gatherer
Brown for mining, green for botany, blue for fishing.
for someone with no doh/dol leveled, how bad is the idea of spamming roulette all day as healer/tank to make gil?
Not good, better ways of making money as a non-crafter are:
1) Running Eureka, Bozja, or the deep dungeons and selling rare mount or minion drops
2) Hunt trains, and selling materia you get from them
3) Treasure maps, selling the rare materials
4) Grinding FATEs for gemstones and selling the items
Pretty bad. Rouls are for tomestones and experience, the gold and materia are only bonuses.
with the same amount of time, you will make more money with FATE grinds or Treasure Maps.
20 Minutes makes 10\~20K is pretty bad.
What exactly is the difference between Series and Season when it comes to PvP? I know the series goes on until 6.2 and there are two Seasons per series. Are the rewards all tied to the series? I *think* both, and I'm guessing eventually all three, PvP modes give you series rewards. Is the season stuff just CC?
Season is just Crystal Conflict, Series is PVP as a whole. They have their own unique rewards and timelines.

I installed and registered the free trial. I want to play the viera class which requires shadowbringers expansion pack. If I purchase the FINAL FANTASY® XIV: ENDWALKER™ STANDARD EDITION [PC DOWNLOAD], will I be able to play the viera class? thanks
Yes, buying the most recent expansion gets you all previous expansions you are missing.
With that said, you will lose the free trial and be forced to pay for the sub right away. If that doesn't matter go for it. If it does, know that you get 1 free race/gender/appearance change at the end of the 2.0 storyline, which you can save until you later buy Endwalker, at which point you could go bunny with whatever placeholder you make in the meantime.
Ok. That helps a lot. I reach that part of the story line, get an appearance change, then go bunny once I buy Endwalker.
that person is incorrect, they may have misunderstood your post. you cannot use *just* endwalker on a trial account. you must own the base game before you can add the expansions.
if you want to be a viera you will need the starter editon and endwalker, or the complete editon (which is the same as those two things in one package)
#Do not just buy endwalker
Free trial players cannot register the endwalker code by default. You must own the starter edition that removes the free trial restrictions.
Correction, buying just the expansion does not let free trial players play the expansion. The player has to buy both the starter edition and the latest expansion, and they are also bundled together as the complete edition.
Fair point. I just assumed OP was just asking why he couldn't buy SHB if that's what was needed for Viera lol.
Ok, I'm OP. I'll have to get the complete edition ~~endwalker~~. thanks!
No, you can't register the expansions without already owning the Starter Edition. You would have to buy that as well and register both to your account. This will also end your free trial, and after the free 30 day subscription that comes with registering the Starter Edition, you will need to start paying a subscription to continue playing.
You can’t buy the expansion without upgrading the free trial to the full game
Are plot entries limited to 1 per service account, even for FCs?
Edit: I'm guessing the guy who told me this was wrong?
No. I can't remember how it works for FCs, but for personal housing it's one per world per service account. So like I could have a character own a house on Ultros and another on Behemoth, for an example.
Gotcha, thanks. Maybe there was a misunderstanding then
I can't spend rested EXP quick enough, I do my roulettes and do FATEs and Guildship Mark Bills while I wait for my queue to pop but I'm still accumulating it faster than I can use it. Is there something I'm missing?
Others are suggesting crafters and gatherers, which was my first thought, but another great rested experience user is Blue Mage. Blue Mage gets nearly all of its experience from killing monsters (they get a huge exp buff for regular overworld monsters), so rested experience applies to almost all of a Blue Mage's experience.
Blue mages are fun and getting one to level 50 and collecting spells for it unlocks the Masked Carnivale, which you can do weekly challenges for to basically cover all your teleportation fees (depending on how much you teleport each week).
All these suggestions are good, but I wanted to give Blue Mage a shoutout.
rested xp only applies to crafting, gathering, and xp earned from *killing enemies*. so if you do a roulette and get something not near your level, the majority if the xp you earn will be from the roulette bonus rather than the dungeon bosses themselves and not use up / benefit from much of your rested xp. same deal with fates, most of the xp is from the completion reward, not the enemy kills. doing your highest available levelling dungeon will benefit from it much more directly
Ah, that makes much more sense, thank you.
Level a crafter or gatherer or three, you'll burn through that rested XP pretty quickly.
Haha not a bad idea
Is there a way to change your characters name ?
You need to go onto Mogstation and use the Name Change service. I believe it's $10 USD.
1. So is BLU at level 70 comparable to other classes at what level? 70, 80 or 90?
2. Are linkshells basically chatrooms that people use to gather like minded people like say raiding or hunts without using FC?
1. Blue isn't terribly comparable in a lot of respects. It'll be stronger at anything except tanking compared to equivalent classes, but also incredibly bursty, with a fair amount of that damage being final sting, which can skew numbers. They're kings of FATEs tho.
2. Essentially? They're like fc chat, but with different restrictions. Good for a group of friends to do some easy chatting, or for hunts and the like.
Thanks, just one more. BLU is capped at level 70, so does that mean they can't wear anything that has a lvl req of 71 or higher?
Correct. They follow the same level requirement rules as everyone else. So they can't equip anything that's 71+, nor can they use glamour of items that are 71+. At least for now. The expectation is that the level cap will be raised in one of the upcoming patches now that the level cap is 90 for regular classes.
Blu is not directly comparable to any class at any level. It's highly skill dependent.
With patch 6.1 how good is DRK compared to other tanks? What are some advantages DRK have over other tanks?
DRK is still squishier when it comes to big pulls in dungeons but with the living dead changes you can use that to live through a big pull once in a while.
Compared to other tanks they still have the best DPS but it's not big enough to where you'd get picked over a more experienced gunbreaker.
Is there a minimum submersible stat before I can get Kamacite?I sent the sub to Rimilala Shelf but it brough back 20 chunks of cobalt ore. Is it just RNG?
"Poor retrieval levels result in disappointing retrieval yield"
Is there a proper strategy for filling out Faux cards? Should I try to aim for the reclear every week or something else on the card?
Always go for the reclear, Ultimate Unreal is quite easy to clear, and that means getting the weekly reclear is just guaranteeing a bonus 15 on your leaves.
Try to find the chest with remaining checks.
There's some solvers out there to help like this one:
There's some strategy to it, but you should always go for the blades for the reclear every week for the first attempt. You can usually get the sword plus chest each time you try for it, but I think looking for the fox can be better on average than going for the sword on the second card.
Thank you for linking a colorblind friendly one!
how does King's Yield/Blessed Harvest work? King's Yield II/Blessed Harvest II says "Increases the number of items obtained when gathering by two" but when I use it, it increases by like 6. i understand Gatherer's Boon could also increase it by 1 but that still doesn't add up??
The node can also grant yield bonuses if you have enough stats to reach the breakpoint. For example, an endgame node which contains Raw Eblan Danburite has a yield bonus of +3 if I have 3591 Gathering or more. Since I have more than that, I get a +3 bonus, so now I harvest 4 danburite with every hit. If I use King's Yield 2, that's another +2, so total of 6.
that makes sense, but there's still some math i don't get.
let's say on a node, i have 100% chance of Gatherer's Boon, then use Tidings twice to get a total of +3 item yield increase (+1 from Gatherer's Boon and +2 from two Tidings).
let's also say on that same node, i have 100% chance of Gatherer's Boon, but i use King's Yield II instead. so now i should theoretically have +1 from Gatherer's Boon and +2 from King's Yield II, no? i tested this out a few times on the same nodes and it seems like King's Yield once always gives a lot more than using Tidings twice.
Firstly, you cannot use Tidings twice, the buff will overwrite.
Second, Gatherer's Boon *already* gives you a +1. Using Tidings will boost that to +2.
For example, a node has a 100% chance for Gatherer's Boon. You don't use any skills. Harvesting that node will always give you +1 (so total of 2) due to that 100% chance of Gatherer's Boon.
Now take the same node and use Tidings once (only once because using it twice does nothing and only wastes GP). Now Gatherer's Boon gives you an extra +1 on top of the original +1, so you have a +2 yield now, so every hit will give you 3 of the material.
ohh, thank you. i thought Tidings kept stacking every time you used it
Hey guys i have no idea if you are going to see this but if you do please help me
I bought final fantasy on my steam, with the versions with all of the expansions including endwalker, and i have been playing for one month but today i tried to login and it said that my license has expired and once i clicked the link to go to the website it brought me to the Mog station account site, and it asks me for my login which i provide and then it says for me top transfer top full game and it says for me purchase to purchase the full game or REGISTRATION code entry, but once i put the code it says it has already been used EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY HAVE THE GAME, and i want to play but i have no idea what happned and what to do.
My immediate gut reaction is that you bought the game assuming it was just a single purchase, but FF14 has a subscription model. After you buy the game you have a month of game time automatically, and then you need to set up a sub to keep playing.
If you've already done that and it's still not letting you in, then that would probably be a question for their Support rather than Reddit.
DUDE I LOVE U SO MUCH I WAS ABLE TO FIGURE IT OUT <3 <# <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
xd and here I was typing up a step by step and super confused when it said the comment was deleted. But congrats, you have conquered the true hardest boss in FF14. Buying the game.
HAHAHAHAHAH thats true, that is what asmongold said
Hello! Would like to ask some stuff about gardening.
Am I able to see how much time is left until I can harvest in-game?
Also, if I see the plants are ready to harvest, and I don't really want to touch them, what happens if I accidentally click on those? Will there be a confirmation screen or i just harvest them right away?
thanks for answering in advance!
You can't see the exact time on any plants without some sort of plugin. You get some idea by how they look, but that's it. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Gardening doesn't make enough money to worry too much about the exact timings as long as you water growing plants once a day.
There's a confirmation before harvesting or removing plants, so as long as you don't click that you're fine.
Without the use of a plugin, no you cannot see how much time is left.
Yes, there is a confirmation screen.
Anyone know the reason the sound can just randomly cut out for the game? Or the way to fix it other than just rebooting the game?
err, yeah. I get it's not on purpose, but what's the cause? I'd like to avoid triggering the bug
The most recent sound bug (in case there's more than one) is from the new pvp mode.
Don't change sound devices or unplug them.
I didn't, rest of my sound worked fine
All I can suggest is using a virtual audio cable and hope that solves your issue. Otherwise you need to wait for the devs to solve it. Ffxiv kills the audio when it detects unplugged audio.
I've never heard of a virtual audio cabel, how does that work?
From what I understand, you route your audio into it with software, and then the new digital cable plugs into ffxiv. This digital audio cant can't be accidentally unplugged since it's not a physical item.
What are the biggest Dark Knight swords in the game so far?
One of the ShB relic steps is pretty damn long. Like midpoint step.
Perfect, I'll check it out, thank you!
Which of the DoL classes should I focus on leveling first for the most gil?
MIN and BOT earn more than fishing generally. I'd highly suggest leveling both at the same time if you're only looking for gil. They share most of the same gear and having both lets you more easily take advantage of the way timed nodes work. Those are easy sources of money. Though be warned that gathering in general gets hit by bots and isn't as lucrative as you might think, especially if you're only casual about it. Building a good set of gear is expensive by itself.
There isnt a consistent answer. Some weeks CUL for raid/crafter food may make bank, others its not even selling for the value you get turning it in as a leve turnin. GSM is good for most accessories until SE decides the patches accessories are actually made by LTH or even more rarely CRP. Tldr is you want all of them so you can follow the marker fluctuations. If you dont like the sound of that imo gathering is easier since there are far fewer base mats to track prices of compared to midcrafts and final crafts. Look at the 2-4 key miner items, figure which sells the most today, hit rock, go home
MIN and BTN should be about the same, and since they share gear and work the exact same way, doing both at the same time is reasonable
Is bard a viable option in Crystal Conflcit? Bard is my main but I feel like I am struggling to do well in CC.
Viable, but plays differently to other jobs since they want to stay at max range. Make sure you're helping to focus down targets, and try to time your silence properly.
Thanks for the advice! Sorry it took me a week to reply.
Anybody know how long the current pvp series is gonna last??
Until 6.2. The items from this series will be purchasable with crystal trophies until 6.3 at that point.
Series change with major patches so 6.2 right now.
**Crafting rotation for new gear?**
I always forget how to filter on that one site to find crafting rotations, but I'm curious about making the new Pactmaker gear. It's got a Difficulty of 4300, Durability 70, Quality is 12800.
My current crafting gear gives me 3350 Craftsmanship, 3340 Control, and 564 CP before any food.
Can anyone hook me up with a crafting rotation to craft up the new gear?
In the long run, do try to craft yourself and learn to use [teamcraft](https://ffxivteamcraft.com/simulator). Their Crafting Simulator is great and I think you will benefit a lot just by knowing how to craft yourself.
3350/3340/564, with 5649 Starting Quality (i.e. everything besides AR-Ceaen Velvet is HQ). ~~HQ Cunning Craftsman Syrup +~~ HQ Tsai Tou Vounou. (Double Checked, you don't need to pot)
There should be more ways for you to make this with less quality but I always want to make stuff with less step so here you go.

I'd love to learn! I went to the link you posted, because I'll also need to learn how to make Hannish Fiber, and so I put in my stats and HQ Tsai.. but then what? How do I end up finding a rotation that works, and then testing it (or w/e) via the Simulator like you and /u/BondEternal did?
PS - thanks to you both for the rotation suggestions for the 70 Durability items! Can't wait to give them a go. I'm gathering and creating materials now based on [this infographic](https://i.redd.it/pb8km37yh1u81.jpg).
I didn't really 'learn' how to craft, but it's just that crafting (with a macro) is rather simple and quite easy to understand once you actually try writing your macro.
Every craft can be broken into two parts: Progress and Quality. Your goal is to always fill up both Progress and Quality to 100% before you runs out of durability.
There's basically two openings that works: you either uses Muscle Memory on your first step, use Waste Not II and Manipulation and avoid burning out durability and set up progression skills (Like, Veneration > Groundwork/Careful Synthesis) while avoid going over 100% progression on your first few moves; or, you start with Reflect, uses Waste Not II and Manipulation, and follows up with Innovation > Touch Actions; after you have 10 stacks of Inner Quiet, Buff, and then Pop Byregot's Blessings.
Try messing with it on teamcraft's simulator (well you still have to make another silk item of your material, that would be a nice way to try and write your macro) by simply clicking on moves and dragging around the order you use them. Go click on the rotation finder and see how everyone solves the craft. If you don't know what skills does what, read your tool tips.
