TBF, they are not exactly system compatible. Using round tiles makes more sense.

Do they not make these anymore? I am currently sorting through my old legos and I am just waiting to find a chest full of these that I tucked away when I was younger. I know it’s there somewhere…
One time I had a dream that I was walking through a forest and I came upon a man-made stream that had tens of thousands of the gold coins sprinkled on the bottom.
I don’t remember what else happened in the dream, but I’ll never forget that visual of a shallow, fast moving brook littered with sparkling tiny golden Lego coins.
Brick Bank has a few, for the change-counting machine (I think that's what it was--it had a little drawer that pulled out) and the money laundering operation.
Yup. In fact, been digging through my old Legos since getting them back from my parents (20+ years later), and been finding them scattered everywhere. :)
At one time I had over a hundred of these. All in chests in my pirate ship. Then ......... I grew up and went to college and my Mom gave them to my cousins.... never to be seen again.
Agreed. I was a child from a single parent household so my Mom was always looking to keep me engaged with something so she could have some downtime. I had so much Lego as she knew if she bought me a set that would keep me busy for days and she'd get to relax a bit without a constant Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom hahah. Now as a parent that same mistake won't be made twice!
Ye old pirate sets.
the only good pirate set.
Cough *Barracuda Bay* Cough
Can't believe a few of mine survived
I remember these from the western sets lol
Strongest memory of these coins was trying to pick them out of the insides of other bricks.
A long forgotten memory retrieved! Thank you
Yo I still sometimes have to do this but with other bricks tho.
I remember getting them from old western sets. Got gold coins from old pirate sets
If you don't have chests full of these coins then you're a fan of Bionicle.
Don't forget the "gold bars" that came with every pack of 4 coins.
Bro… 😂😂 I’m not the only one that kept them?!
Of course not, it was GOLD!!
Yuup i guess 99% kept them. The 1% was probably thrown away by parents during build 'help'
Exactly! Thanks for bringing those memories back!
Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Golden Sprue"
Til sprue thanks
Yes! Can't throw out that center chunk!
Why not both? How’s Pohatu gonna buy a new mask?
I'm too old to know who Pohatu is!
I must be in the sweet spot of avid Johnny Thunder fans who were just young enough to enjoy the first wave of Bionicle sets when they came out.
Lol, as a Bionicle fan, I found this pretty funny.
Yes
This is an outstanding reply. Be proud of it.
Ha, thanks!
Do they not make them anymore???
No

Even as a kid I never really understood these pieces. They don’t fit in minifigure hands, but they sure fill up a treasure chest nicely.
Two together kinda fit in a minifig hand.
Is that silver? I don't think I've ever seen a silver one; just a bunch of the gold ones from the early Pirate sets. Those were fantastic.
Some of my gold coins have faded and they look silver. I think that is what is going on here.
I seem to remember gold coins with pirate sets, and silver with western, but its so long ago its a faded memory at best
Western were def still gold. But most western sets had the green banknotes
This is the only thing worthy of my lego treasure chests. Pearl gold and trans colours don't cut it in my nick of the woods!

Yes. In that color? Not so much. Me personally I have some gold versions.
This _is_ gold!
Hehe nice
I have a golden version of it, idk how i got it.. anyone know a set that has golden coins?
Most of the oldskool Pirate sets.
Ohhhh, yea i remember i got one a while ago, thanks for sharing!
I got mine from Aqua Raiders sets
Looking through these comments I find it funny that most people got them from old pirates or Cowboys sets. I got all of mine from SpongeBob lol
Anyone remember the pistol?
Brick Bank has a few, for the change-counting machine (I think that's what it was--it had a little drawer that pulled out) and the money laundering operation.
The Indiana Jones sets had a few of these
Yes, still have many treasure chests full.
I got these in the Aqua Raiders sets. The good old days
My brother had quite an ear infection from one of these at 3-4 years old.
Of course I have treasure chests full with em
my strongest memory with these were the frustration of how they didn't fit in the hands of a minifigure 🤣
I always kept the center piece too as extra gold...
Same
Nope, just you. 🙄
I didn’t know coins existed I thought they only had the studs
They are old think they stopped producing them in 2003
2011 actually, last seen in the pharaohs quest line
Yup. In fact, been digging through my old Legos since getting them back from my parents (20+ years later), and been finding them scattered everywhere. :)
Yeah I have some. They’re from my brothers’ old sets that I now have.
I forgot these existed. I haven’t seen one for like 11 years
Such a good piece! So many memories. Unfortunately so many of these would have been lost to the dreaded vaccuum
Yesss. Wow that takes me back.
You've just unlocked a memory
Still have a few!
Yes I do
I think there were some in the original Harry Potter Gringotts set.
I love these. I wish they still made them.
I got a bunch of them in the SpongeBob Krusty Krab set
The nostalgia 😫
Yes, I passed my old bins of lego down to my nephew and he was obsessed with finding and counting them in the giant pile of pieces.
I'm pretty sure these are still the smallest piece Lego has ever made.
I can't accept any other form of lego "treasure" than these. So glad that I have thousands of them from my childhood Legos.
I had those gold slabs
Ah, I do remember those. I still have some. I wonder why they stopped using them...
Oh shitttt
Do they not still make these? They were in the expert brick bank I just finished. It only retired a few years ago.
I have three of them now and the only ones I'll ever have
They don’t make these anymore? Dang, I better keep mine safe then. Still need to grab my Lego collection from my parents attic…
Yes: https://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/sfl11w/bones_carrots_breads_popcorn_slopes_i_only_have
I have a bag of dubloons somewhere in storage. I never took them off the plastic holding themctogether.
Old coins best coins, pretty sure New ones dont have differing amount of currency printed ( i vaguely remember old ones valued 10, 20, 30)
Shouldn't it be yellow-goldish ? Or paint wears out ;)
I do ! I still have a few in my brick bank
Still have a few lying around :)
Yep, i have these
Yes
Damn I completely forgot about these!
I have a bunch of these in Gold From old pirate sets
At one time I had over a hundred of these. All in chests in my pirate ship. Then ......... I grew up and went to college and my Mom gave them to my cousins.... never to be seen again.
I feel we need a LEGO therapy reddit for all the sets people outgrew and were donated but now mourn their loss.

Oh yeah! I had chests and barrels full of them as a kid.
